The SWAP Study stands for Shockwave and Peyronie’s disease which is an acquired curvature of the penis that produces pain and disfigurement and makes intercourse difficult. The only 2 treatments currently that have been shown to work are surgery which causes penile shortening and Xiaflex penile injections which are painful, expensive and restrict the participant from having intercourse during treatment.

The SWAP Study uses shockwaves to break up the penile plaque along with medications and penile stretching techniques.  The advantage of this protocol is that it is not painful, it is much less expensive than surgery or Xiaflex, we encourage men to continue to have erections and intercourse, and it improves erectile function.
